Inception of the IFWEM
As a result of interactions with fieldwork educators, students, personal observation and research, Drs. Hanner and Crawford identified the need for a model that could be used to guide the fieldwork educator throughout the fieldwork education process. The goal of the developers was to provide a model that was easy to access, evidence-based, grounded in theory, and focused on intentional teaching. Research outcomes indicated that the model positively impacted fieldwork effectiveness in their role as an educator and resulted in enhanced student learning outcomes.
